In 1984, I found myself in front of an IBM PC. I had the thought: “Gee, these things seem like they might have a future”. 42 years later, the thought has been validated a thousand times over. I have worked for some of the best-known companies in the world solving networking, data security and management problems.

For the last 28 years, I have focused on small to medium sized businesses for a couple of reasons:

1. The market for Information Technology products always seems tilted toward the “big guys”, with products and solutions that are either too expensive or too complex for a small business owner to manage. Cloud services can take years to master.

2. Small Business owners are like me, a small business owner. I know that you like to get back time in your personal life that your business seems to always be stealing from you. You also need to succeed beyond where you would have been had you stayed in a 9-5 job with a company somewhere. You self-start, and you don’t settle for just OK, but you can’t get pinned down in protracted struggles just to make something work that seems to work for everyone else.

This is why we have a “no MBA jargon” rule here, and we look for solutions that have finite, clearly defined and achievable steps that can be assessed as a whole before taking step 1.
